MacroDay guide
MacroDay is local-first. Use its own complete-backup export when you want a portable copy or plan to replace the records on another iPhone.
Create a dated JSON backup through Apple’s file interface.
The exported file is not encrypted by MacroDay.
Restore replaces the MacroDay records already on that iPhone.
The complete backup includes saved foods, diary and exercise entries, goals, weights, water, daily notes, recipes, saved meals, profile information, and My Kitchen progress. A readable CSV is a separate export for reviewing history; use the complete backup for MacroDay’s restore flow.
MacroDay does not encrypt an exported backup after you save it. It can contain profile, nutrition, weight, exercise, and Apple Health-derived records. Store it somewhere you trust and control. Do not email it to support unless support requests it and you are comfortable sharing its contents.
Restore is a replacement, not a merge. MacroDay checks the backup format and supported version, validates certain duplicate records, and keeps the existing data if validation or the final save fails.
MacroDay makes a best-effort attempt to exclude its local app and widget stores from ordinary device and iCloud backups. Use Export Complete Backup when you need a deliberate, portable MacroDay copy; do not assume an iPhone backup will move or merge the diary for you.
